There have been so many large-scale redesigns recently. It seems that everyone and their brother is weighing in on the new Met branding. Well, I'm not going to talk about that. Instead, lets discuss the new redesign for the US mens national soccer team. Overall, in my mind, it was very well done. Each aspect has been very well thought out, while creating a great framework to build upon. It is complete with a custom typeface that was meticulously designed by Tal Leming. One of my favorite parts about the typeface is the name, 90 minutes. Well done Tal, well done. Head over to UnderConsideration for more images and info.
I haven’t been up to date on streetwear for quite some time, but I do still follow Benny Gold. He is not only one of the nicest guys, but also one of the hardest working. His latest collaboration is with the champagne of beers, Miller High Life. He did some tall boy cans, as well as two shirts that you can get for free by collecting carton codes. Well done Benny!
I am a maker. I am always coming up with new things to create. Some are pretty great, some are not so hot. Either way, I love making things and sharing them with others.
My latest personal project is creating a new zine. One that is meant to replicate social media. Example: When someone goes on a trip and the instagram the hell out of it, its great to follow their adventure. What did we do before IG? Take photos? Create an album? There is something so great about the printed piece. I intend to bring that back. Sure it isn’t as instant as social media, but great things take time…. right?
The other idea is creating an “instant zine”. This is to address that whole time issue thing. The idea is to attend an event (or just do something) then instantly create a quick zine the next day, ready to distribute.
Everyones favorite blog couple is back at it. You may remember Timothy Goodman and Jessica Walsh’s last blog, 40 Days of Dating. Their new blogject (blog/project) is called 12 Kinds of Kindness. They have been working on it over the past year, and will be rolling out daily posts over the next month.
There is something about these daily post-blog-projects that really pull me in. I think it's a combination of anticipation to see what is posted next as well as a daily habit (similar to a morning cup of coffee). It helps that these two are great designers and overall super rad people. So yea, thanks Tim and Jessica, I’m excited to follow!
