We recently got back from a weekend getaway to Scotland. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect other than the Scottish stereotypes of kilts, whisky, tweed, the loch ness monster, etc. Edinburgh was a historically charming city filled with old, smoky buildings. Our day in the highlands started with foggy mountains and ended with beautiful lochs. (sans monsters)
Some of our favorite bits were:
Authors Seat - you can actually hike up a dormant volcano that is right on the edge of the city.
The Scotch Whisky Experience - sure, a little touristy, but really well done, and you get to visit the worlds largest scotch whisky collection.
Oink - a proper hog roast sandwich shop. So. Good.
